Roger Byrd is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia, where he teaches Political Science, Criminal Justice, Government, and Business. He also directs the college’s Prison Programs, providing educational opportunities within local prisons. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor at East Georgia State College.

Previously, Dr. Byrd was the Business & Industry Manager at Oconee Fall Line Technical College, where he designed and taught workforce training programs. With over 35 years of experience in Public Service and Higher Education, he has expertise in Governance, Education, Policy Development, and Business & Industry. Dr. Byrd served as a Georgia State Representative for 22 years, chairing committees and serving on state boards.

He remains active on various boards focused on higher education and public charity, and recently published a textbook on criminal justice. A native of Hazlehurst, Georgia, Dr. Byrd is married to April Eason and has a daughter, Olivia.
